A Longing For God

Do you long for a communion with God?

It is as much a necessity as water is for the sustenance of the deer. Satisfaction can only be found in the presence of God. Jesus said we will have trouble in this world, but He also added that this should not discourage us. He overcame the world and all its troubles.

Being in Christ means we are perpetually in His refreshing presence. This stream of water is not hidden from us. He said it flows from within us. He lives in us by His Spirit. By grace we have constant access to His restorative presence.

Our thirst for God is not satisfied by the mere following of religious rituals. It is indeed a deep desire for the presence of God Himself. Jesus said He is knocking at the door and if anyone opens the door to His call, He will have fellowship with that person. We don't have to go here and there to seek the presence of Jesus. He comes to us. He abides with us. He lives with us. Walks with us. He is our constant companion by His Spirit.

Righteous Desires Lead To Good Results

Did you know that the desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath? That is what Proverbs 11:23 says!

A righteous person desires the glory of God and the good of others, sometimes at personal cost to himself. He delights in God and His ways and because he delights in God, he will receive from God the desires of his heart.

Although we have received the righteousness of Christ, not all our desires are at all times righteous and good, but the power of the Spirit of Christ alive in us overcomes and often puts to death unrighteous desires arising from our flesh.

Finally, it is through His work of grace in us that we are able to grow from glory to glory, more and more into the image of Christ -- the Righteous One.

Yes, righteous desires do lead to good results!
